Frequently asked questions
- How do you calculate survey response rate?
- Subtract bounced emails from surveys sent, then divide completed responses by that number. 384 completed out of 1,920 delivered is a 20% response rate.
- What is a good survey response rate?
- For email surveys to customers, 10–30% is common. Short in-app or post-ticket surveys often reach 30–50%. A rate that falls over time usually means surveys are too long or too frequent.
- How many responses do I need?
- Enough for the margin of error you accept. For a 5% margin at 95% confidence you need about 385 responses from a large customer base; the survey sample size calculator does the maths.
