Frequently asked questions
- How do you calculate pipeline coverage?
- Divide the value of open opportunities expected to close in the period by the quota you still need to close. $900,000 of pipeline for $300,000 of remaining quota is 3× coverage.
- What is a good pipeline coverage ratio?
- Use 1 ÷ your win rate: with a 25% win rate you need 4×, with 33% about 3×. The 3× rule only works if your win rate is close to one in three.
- Why does high coverage still miss target?
- Because old or unqualified deals inflate it. Count only opportunities with a close date in the period and a real next step.
